Why is my TV so dark!?

I have the brightness and contrast all the way up... its still really dark and i cant see anything in night time scenes.. its relatively new, 52 inch mini tube... or whatever. its got a back so its not really flat panel, and its "rear projection screen". Why is it so dark, and how can i fix this??

It shouldnt need a "Lamp" right out of the box, that would be extremly rare (I've never seen it in since they've made them).  Check for something called auto contrast or dynamic something or other and turn it off.  Make sure it happens with a DVD--if it does then I'd return it. If it doesnt check the cables.  Most stores have at least a 15 day policy.

sounds like you need a new tube..if it is still under the warenty,,,,,,,great!
