Question:

Why is my Xbox 360 lagging horribly?

Hiya,

I am having troubles with my Xbox 360 live.

Here are my speeds:

5832 kb/s download, 3405 upload, 50ms ping.

I use the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter.

When I go to network settings, and check my bars, it is full green. Yet, when I try to play a game, it lags uncontrollably. For instance, when playing Halo today, the clock didn't move and I couldn't see the enemy, my bullets, the grenades, etc. and it said I had 1 red bar. Then, when the game was over, I checked the network settings to see, full green bars. Game after game this happened, so it wasn't just a host on a bad connection. I then tried to play with a fried online, just me and him. I lagged there as well. Once I end the game and check the Network settings, I have full green bars. It just doesn't make any since to me.

My internet is protected and only my family knows the passcode, so no one is stealing the internet, I tried my friends wireless Xbox 360 adapter thinking mine was faulty and that did not help.

I do have two computers that use the internet but I turned off their internet when playing to no avail either.

I can't hardwire it, so please do not suggest that. It just isn't possible for me, it has to be wireless.

What's the problem?

My NAT is set to open as well, so that is not the problem.

Thanks ahead of time, and if any of you solve my problem or tell me where I can go to solve my problem, as long as it doesn't cost money, you will receive the best answer!

  1. hook an ethernet cable in

  2. I would try using an ethernet cable to the back of your xbox then to your wireless router. Then it might work

  3. Hmm... I'd say contact your ISP, or maybe the Xbox Live team...

Also, the Geek Squad from Best Buy could help I'm sure :)
