My air conditioner is making a squeaky noise. It does it for a little bit then it quits and then does it 2 seconds later. Just now it was really doing it so i shut it off. I asked my dad to check it out but every time it does it and i ask him to see what it is, it quits. Why is it doing that and how can i fix it?

  1. Sounds like you need a little WD-40 lubricant on the fan shaft bearing, Dad should be able to take of that. It's not as good as 3in1 Oil but it will help..

  2. The motor bushings(they are sometimes mistakenly called bearings) are prelubricated and usually stay lubricated for the life time of the motor.Yours motor is lacking lubricant.

You can try to spray some WD or similar oil on the lower part of the shaft to buy some more time before you will have to replace the blower motor.Good luck.

  3. Hi, it sounds like you a have a compressor or compressor starter problem. You mentioned about the sound stopping for abt 2 secs and coming back. When your compressor had difficulty turning, it goes gggrrrr, which then the current shoots up, triggering the overload relay, which will spring back abt 2 secs later, then it tries again. If my diagnosis is correct. turn it to fan mode, the sound will go away. Then check the starter using a capacitance meter (should read at least 25uF). check what's labelled on the capacitor. For other sound you may like to read this http://www.astiquer.com/noisyblower.html

    Hope it helps,
