My electrician friend told me the problem to my amp might be overheatin. It'll play at loud volumes then shut off and the bass will kick in again. I rewired it down to 4 ohms from 2 also. DIdn't help. Any suggestions. It's well insulated

  1. make sure the amp is getting enough air to it and make sure the amps cooling fan is working if the amp dose not  have a fan then there is your problem

  2. try turning your gain down thats more and likely your problem

  3. Kevin L, just to let you know, setting your gain lower will not stop the amp from over heating, it is still going to heat up any way you look at it.

The amp needs to be placed in a spot that is going to allow cool air to pass over it. Also install a couple of computer fans around it will help greatly as well. It will help pass cool air over the amp.

The bass boost needs to be at zero any way, unless you do not like your subs. That is the best way to kill them, since turning that up is only going to make the signal start clipping.
