My 6 week old baby was on similac soy since he came home from the hospital. We recently changed him to Parents Choice Gentle which is milk based. He seems to be doing great, not as much gas and spitup. But he has backtracked and is starting to want to eat every three hours instead of four. is this normal? and why?

  1. Your little one is going through a growth spur which usually occurs a few days after they get home from the hospital, at around 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months. But every child is different so don't follow this calendar, just follow your child.

  2. he is going though a growth spurt! Just keeping feeding! Congrats!

  3. i'm not sure but maybe soy digests slower than milk based formula.

Also, maybe because you mentioned that he was gassy with soy, he had the "feeling" of fullness with the soy, and now that he's not bloated he's more hungry.  just a guess though

  4. Yes that is normal some babies change and want it to eat every 2 hours.....try feeding the baby sitting up right so he gets a full belly....lying a baby down at feeding doesn't fill them up as much as if you would to feed them sitting upfront....they also less likely to get ear infections....since the milk does not drain into there ears sitting upfront so prop him/her up on a pillow and feed him like that and he will soon go back to every 4 hours.

  5. Totally normal, my baby ate every 1.5 hours at 6 weeks (slept most of the night).  Feed him when he is hungry and don't watch the clock.

  6. Wow, one hour difference. Who cares. Feed on demand.

  7. Babies eat when their hungry! My 6 week old eats every 2 hours still
