  1. You may just be standing very badly - standing "swaybacked."  If so, and there is no medical condition, you just need to correct your posture.  Oh, and by the way, your back should still have a slight curve in it when you are standing.  It's the excessive curve that pokes you out front and rear that is bad for your back.

One thing that I was taught about posture was to pretend that I was being pulled up by a string coming from the top of my head.  This helped but I was still struggling with having my back straight.

I was later taught (during special exercise classes) how to rotate my hips/pelvis and have found it a lot easier ever since.

It's heaps easier to only do this exercise on the floor until you get the hang of it and then you can start trying it standing up - when you've got the feel of rotating your hips.

Lie down on the floor on your back with your knees bent and soles of your feet flat on the floor.  (As long as you make sure that you have your knees well bent, you can't hurt yourself with this exercise - they give it to pregnant women.)

Take you hand and see if you can slide it under your back between your back and the floor.

Alternate between pressing your back flat against the floor until you can't have your hand in there and having your back rise up enough to allow your hand to slide under.  Make sure your bottom, shoulders and feet stay on the floor during this.

What is happening is that you are rotating your pelvis to achieve this.  It can be very hard to do at first but when you are starting to do it easily without having to think about it, it's time to try it standing up.  This is when having someone watching you can help.

Stand up and try rotating your hips so your tummy sticks out and then back so your tummy tucks in.  When you have this under control, you have the "tool" you need to correct your back curving.

And to get down on your back like that and get up from that position, you should sit down, and then lay on your side, then go down onto your back.  Reverse it to get up.

Here are some links - the exercise is called a pelvic tilt:

  2. Hey, all i can suggest is don't worry about it, if anything you'll look good. It's a natural thing for alot of people.

Look at it this way, im a drummer, and when i stand up or carry my beloved cat around, h**l, my back's arched, it's natural, but when i sit down, it's almost straight.

But if you want to fix it, all i can suggest is slouching around the place more, or working out.

  3. You may have a condition known as hyperlordosis, or swayback. The way you fix this is by going to a chiropractor who specializes in a technique called Chiropractic Biophysics. You can find one on this website: http://www.idealspine.com/pages/referral...

  4. I UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL. YOUR QUESTION TOOK ME BACK TO MY EARLY SCHOOL DAYS.AS AN EARLY TEEN I WAS PRETTY FIT SO I STOOD OUT IN SPORTS. DURING THE START OF GYM CLASS WE WOULD ALL LINE UP IN ROWS. THE TEAM LEADER WOULD STAND IN FRONT OF HIS ROW. I REMEMBER STANDING THERE AT ATTENTION. ONE OF THE GYM COACH'S PASSED ME BY STOPPED WALKED BACK OVER TO ME AND BROKE OUT LAUGHING. HE CALLED THE OTHER COACH OVER. THEY BOTH STOOD THERE IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS LAUGHING AT MY CHEST. IN THE END IT DIDN'T MATTER BECAUSE IN HIGH SCHOOL I EARNED A LETTER FOR GYMNASTICS. DON'T WORRY TALENT IS TALENT. AND DON'T BE ASHAMED, BELIEVE IT OR NOT WOMEN WITH THAT CURVE LOOK NATURALY ATTRACTIVE
