Question:

Why is my backhand shot (wrist & snap) significantlyyyyyy better than my forehand shot?

My backhand wrist & snap shots are stronger, more accurate, and I can get lots of height easily. I have a wayyy more difficult time with my forehand, mostly with getting height on it. Can anyone advise me why this might be? Thanks for your help.

  1. By forehand shot, do you mean wrist or slap?

If it is wrist, make you that you look directly where you want the puck to go and follow through with the toe of your stick pointing at the target

great for you for being able to do a good backhand, they can  sometimes be really tricky if you dont have the right angle!

    hope I helped! :)

  2. Do you follow through with your eyes and your stick pointing at the area of the net you want the shot to go to? this could be simple for you.

Maybe you are shooting from the wrong side to begin with?

It sounds like you may need to do some excersises to strengthen your wrists and forearms. Try doing some wrist curls. use 5 to 10 lbs ona bar and only use your wrists and curl up. Build up the weight over time. You can also use a broom handle or such, tie a rope to it in the middle and tie a weight plate of say 10 lbs and roll up and roll down right hand then left and right and continue to alternate hands.

  3. you could try a different curve, i know it sounds kinda lame, but it will affect certain aspects of your shot. look into a heel cure or a mid heel curve, just try a bunch of different things.

  4. I had the same problem when I was a wing (actually i didn`t really think of it as a problem), almost every shot i went in so i stuck with playing as a righty, but i started to use a backhand more than a forehand it helped a lot. but now I`m a goalie so uhhh, good luck:)!!!!!!!!!
