Question:

Why is my battery dying? Is it because of my amp for my sub?

I have an amp in my car. 420 watts. My alternator is 75 watts. My battery is not even a year old and it died. We tried to jump it but no luck. Could it be that the alternator burned out? We are planning to buy another one either a 75 watt one or a 90 watt alternator.

  1. More than likely your amp is still draining power from you battery when your car is off. You need to go get a switch that will allow it to turn off when you turn your key off. If you jump your car off and the battery charges back up then it is not the alternator. You can get battery and alternator tested at Auto Zone. But you definitely need to make sure the amp is turned off to keep it from draining your battery.
