Why is my bike clicking in 2nd gear then it pops out of gear?

  1. What kind of bike? Several early 80s Yamahas had a notorious 2nd gear issue. Many owners kept riding them, shifting from 1st to 3rd rather than tearing into the Trans.


  2. Bent or worn shift forks - transmission problems.

  3. What bike is it , It could be a bent  selector fork but sounds more like the dogs or teeth are worn if its only happening in 2nd gear. which ever it means a gearbox strip to see.

  4. Sounds like a worn or bent shift fork.  Time for transmission repair.

  5. Not knowing what type of bike makes it hard to help you.But it sounds like bent shifter forks or worn gear dogs on the gear itself.Does it go back into gear if you roll off the throttle?If so it's more than likely worn gear dogs.
