I put a new spark plug in my kx100 and it's still hard to start we always have to use starting fluid and when I took out the plug it looked ok but a little fouled because we used a 32:1 ratio and then I put an all new iridium spark plug in it still took a long time to get it going but once it was going it ran like a great what is the problem?

  1. Hi Carr, I would ask this question in the motorcycle section of cars & transportation.  There are a lot of good mechanics out there.  all I can sugest is that you remember you need 3 things to fire an engine First Fuel, if you have  that right Spark if you are using the right plug and there is the right gap and you have a good spark then there is the most overlooked and under-rated bit of the engine AIR. check you have enough clean air mixing with the fuel. No air No ignition. The air Filter and intake can stop a bike dead in its tracks.

Like I said earlier there are a lot of good mechanics in the motorcycle section, try there.

  2. Get the carbie looked at first, and the air filter cleaned. also fuel filters, and the correct mix of 2 stroke.

  3. I used to run my YZ85 gas/oil ratio at 32:1 and I was fouling plugs like crazy, so I asked my "mechanic" what to do, and he said he runs all of his bikes at 42:1, so i decided to switch to 42:1 and I havent fouled a plug since.  (I suggest spectra gold oil)

  4. try cleaning out the air box it mit be really dirty
