We recently purchased a Tenessee Walker Mare to add to our horse farm that currently has two geldings and two mares as soon as we let her socialize with the others she took off kicking and biting all the other horses and has scarred them up pretty bad. We are currently rotating them between stalls and grazing but its been two weeks and she still does it every time any suggestions?

  1. it could just be her personality. she might want to be the leader of the bunch......if she doesn't sound like she is worth keeping. but sell her car fully allot of horses like that could end up in the butchery! good luck with her =)

  2. Every horse has it's own unique personality and some get along better than others. For example, my gelding still seems to think he's a stallion and only turns out well with mares. With other geldings, he fights all the time.

    You have two options:

    1) Continue to turn them out together and let them sort it out themselves. If you choose this option, it may take about a month for them to establish a pecking order within the herd they all agree to. Be prepared for a lot of cuts and bruises during this period.  I have seen this done at one large farm.

    2) Separate her for grazing or find one or two others that she will get along with and pasture her with those. That is what is done at my current boarding stable, where we have 6 paddocks and only 15 horses. We try alternatve arrangements until we find combinations of horses that get along well

  3. maby because u don't give her enough time and care
