Why is my canadian accent so annoying to americans?

i live in america and im from canda well people cant stop teasing me and whenever i talk they like r you form canda im lik yes they make a fac end lik eww im thinking what wrong. and they try to talk lik me trying to talk how i talk and then laugh why is it so funny i wont change they way i speak for no one im just asking why they do , so cause im getting tired of it?

They just have not been exposed to many people from othet places...and they find it fascinating...they do not realize how unkind constant teasing is.   If you were from the south, or Texas, or New Jersey...they would think you had an odd accent too.    Ignore them when they do this.

IT is not all americans who would think that .NO clue which canadian accent your talking about anyways newfoundland ?? french quebec?? as the other places sound pretty much like other american states.I mean americans have some strange accents to Canadians as well from Newyork ..the south etc ...but I rarely actually never until you said this heard wither Americans or canadians rant about each other accents to the degree of hating it

Don't worry ..honestly most Americans have not experienced many other cultures and find anything differnt from their own to be offensive...

They are just joking with you. Don't take it personnaly. Make fun of the way they talk, I'm sure most will not take it personnaly.

I have a few friends from Canada, and we always give each other h**l about our different accents. It's all in fun, and we don't take any personal offence to it. We do it among ourselves to.

Tsh4kst4( whatever your name is) ur a complete idiot and the only krappy thing around. canada is a great country with nice people. the only point where we vbecome mean is when people make fun of our counry. so u need to calm down and get a life.



dont worry about what americans say to u. they only do it to get u mad and dont prove them right dont let it bother you. hey if they take it too far just make fun of their accent. if it helps then just ignore them. hope i help!!

This could be for a lot of different reasons, not all bad.

Sometimes your friends tease you because, simply, they like you. Sometimes people tease you because, they can get a reaction out of you. first of all just be yourself, don't change for anyone. Secondly, don't let anyone fool you a Canadian accent; whether, French or English is very s**y.

Hun, not to be rude but that's your average American. Americans are stereotyped to be rude and stereotypes sadly CAN be true..No one in Canada where I live gets made fun of their accent unless it's very thick and you can't make out what they're saying. Some Americans think they are so much better than the rest of the world but I got news for them...they're not..

You don't have any problems, after all you're communicating well enough so they can understand you.

Those Americans (and thank goodness not all Americans have that attitude) are just narrow minded and feeding into their own insecurity... if they would travel and/or open their eyes and embrace diversity just then maybe they will change their mind but like I always say:  "It's for me to know and for you to find out!" and just let the shoe drop...

It is not annoying. Most Americans are ignorant to the fact that there are other languages and cultures other than their own. I live in American and I hate every minute of it, I cannot wait to move to Canada.

Anyhow, next time they tease you ask them if they realize their OWN accent.

First, I'm quite amazed by the rather nasty  reply from Tsh4kst444 fortunately most Americans I know or have ever met show a more intelligent side.   Most of my family are  american  and we kid each other about our accents or perceived accents.  To my ear we don't say a boot  for about however Americans hear it that way.  I do believe that for the most part Americans  tend  to compare our accent to a Nebraskan accent  and find our accent quite acceptable as proven by the number of high-profile  TV announcers such as Peter Jennings and John Roberts

Everyone has an accent as I always say. It all depends where you're from.

Most Americans I have met thought my accent was cute. As I am not only Canadian but French Canadian. If anyone doesn't like my accent too bad because I can't help it.

They tease you to get a jump out of you. Ignore them.
