i have a 95 bonneville with 152k. when i come to a stop, there is smoke coming from the front of the engine. i can't pinpoint it though.it's not a lot. it smells like rubber burning. besides that the car runs great. also i've noticed it always happens when i come to a stop.

  1. Is it the brakes?

Do you have a standard? You may have worn out the motor if you didn't operate the shifter correctly?

  2. to me , it sounds like a oil leak around the engine area . the valve covers are the best place to look for this first the other areas near the exhaust pipes. I have worked on many cars in my life and without seeing yours,it would be hard to pinpoint the cause . A car with that many miles on it will have alot of different problems.

  3. More than likely, it's not just smoking when you're stopping but at all times while the engine is running.  You just happen to notice as you come to a stop because the lack of forward motion of the car is no longer carrying the smoke under the vehicle.

Check for signs of external leaks which may be hitting one of the exhaust manifolds or exhaust pipes.

  4. Burning oil I believe.
