Why is my car still shaking?

For awhile now, my car (05 KIA Sorrento) would start shaking when slowing down after going around 70mph. i had the brakes checked out, and was told they were fine. Just bought 4 brand new tires yesterday and also got an alignment. Now, the steering wheel seems to be shaking when it gets to around 70mph. I don't know what to do next? I am thinking of going back to the place that did the alignment, but have a feeling they will just say everything looks o.k. I am driving to CA. next week (from Las Vegas) and wondering if it is safe to drive? I am extra sensitive also b/c my last car started shaking a couple days before one of my tires blew on the highway.

  1. no it is not safe to drive i work at kia when it shakes and slows round 70 is because they engine is nearly dead the engine may be faulty or if its second hand that would ex plane it i suggest you check carburetter filter if its not clogged the engine needs replacing or the other most common is the timing is wrong check that too my nan had the same problem she had that problem one morning and her engine blew up she was taking me to work

  2. check the tires, you might have a belt broke in 1 of them and also have the front end checked, it could be a bad ball joint or a tie rod.

  3. If the guys at the tire outlet over tightened the wheel nuts that would cause the car to get the shakes.Try loosening the wheel nuts off a bit,if you cant, that's your problem.

  4. if only the steering wheel shakes then one of your front tires could be out-of-balance. The tire could be out of balance or it could be the wheel itself. If it's the seats that are shaking than it's probably your rear wheel/tires. Driving at high speeds can make the shaking more severe. Take it back to the shop or go to a good tire shop (preferably named chain location) and have them lift up the car and spin the driving wheels to see if the wheel/tires are BALANCED. The wheels are supposed to turn while staying in one place without any up-and-down vertical movement.

This is different from alignment. Alignment has to do with the direction of travel, not shaking.

  5. Check wheel aligment, wheel balancing or even suspension and steering
