my aunt's cat was walking fine when i came over to her house, and we realized out of nowhere she was dragging her back legs around the floor. i tried to see what was wrong so i got a toy and played with her. she laid on the floor and played with it, but she couldn't get up. now she got up and she's raising her bottom up when she walks and walks very slowly. shes usually very energenic and likes to run and jump but i dont know what happened. she's beginning to tremble and we're scared for our other cat. my brother gave my aunt the cats, and they didn't have their shots. what could this be ? has this happened to anyone else's cats ? my aunt has to go to work in a while, and we don't know if she can make it to take her to a vet. please help, ten points !

  1. my advice is go straight to your vet, what you are saying must be really distressing for you all, including your cat.i really hope you are able to sort this out please let me know. boo x*x

  2. ANother possibility I didn't see posted below is a stroke. No matter what, you absolutely NEED to take this cat to the vet IMMEDIATELY!

  3. Is she meowing loudly?

It sounds to me like she's in heat.

  4. My cat acted like this once because a friend of mine dropped him and broke her back.  Is she using her back legs at all?  If not, she will need to go to the vet and most likely be put down.  I hope that is not the case.  Good luck!

  5. Sounds like a neurological problem to me. Unless she has a fever, or at least high temperture, and other symptoms like foam at the mouth, dripping eyes and nose, I wouldn't think it is contagious for the other cats.

She could have arthritis, a trapped nerve, a tumour, ... so you NEED to see a vet. She seems ok for now (since she can be bothered to play she cant be in too much pain or discomfort) so taking her tomorrow should be ok.

If she stops drinking or eating, or starts hiding away and shying from you guys, take her to an emergency vet. You can find the number in the yellow pages or phone a surgery and the number will be on their answer phone.

    Good luck! xx

  6. I had a pet rat and a pet hamster drag their back legs when they tried to move...for them it was Distemper but it may very well be heart disease, I hope not but I'm providing a link below to information about Heart Disease in felines dragging back limbs is one of the symptoms

  7. my hamster fell off the table and broke its back, so i think your cat couldve either broke a vertabre or its got cold in its spine. if i were you i would take your cat to the vets for safetys sake xx

  8. Sounds like she has injuried herself.

Is there any chance she could have been hit by a car ?

The fact that she is trembling sounds like she is going into shock

I WOULD TAKE HER TO A VET

    edit

Has she been fixed / spayed ?

Could be that she has come into heat but it doesnt really sound like it
