Question:

Why is my cat acting weird?

I rescued a cat 2 years ago. Last year, about this time he started to act strangely. He became very skittish, dilated pupils, and became wary if his usual favorite spots in my home. Now, he is doing it again. He has picked out a new spot near my bed and pretty much stays there all day. I just caught him laying on his side with his eyes wide open and barely moving. He scared me half to death! He is neutered and about 5 years old. What's wrong?

  1. sounds like she may be having seizures, i would have your vet check him over

  2. Because it was the same time last year, I have to wonder if someone has sprayed fertalizer, pesticide, had the carpet/furniture professionally cleaned, or done anything else with chemicals that doesn't normally happen?

Remember, neighbors don't always tell us when they spray.  It could be toxin or a reaction to an unfamiliar chemical.

I'd see a vet just to be on the safe side.

  3. Is the weather hot where you are at? Is he drinking plenty of water? Is he urinating normally? Could be dehydration or just uncomfortable due to the heat. In any case, it's time for a vet check. When a pet acts out of character like he is, a checkup is necessary.
