Why is my cat being so weird?

My girlfriend in the morning puts her make up on as normal and now our normally timid and shy kitten of 14 weeks of age has started doing something very strange. When my girlfriend leaves the room, he picks up the make up brush which is small and ginger (like him) and runs off with it. Then when you try and take it back he starts growling and hissing and turns really aggressive. He neevr ever does this any other time but he turns when he gets this make up brush. Any ideas? His brother is black and more dominant but is not at all bothered by the make up brush.... how odd.

  1. get him his own little make up brush to play with, eventually, he will get bored with it and not want it.  He likes this little brush because it is "Mommy's" brush.  Give "Mommy" the brush to handle for a little while and set it to the side.  See if he goes after that one, if he does, let him play with it until he gets bored and drops it, and then repeat the process.  Eventually he won't do it anymore...

  2. Ignore the first answer. Cats are a strange creature and sometimes you just have no idea what they are thinking. The best advice i can give to you is just to make sure that the brush is out of his reach, in a drawer or cabinet. If he doesnt ever act like this otherwise then hopefully this solves your problem. You can also try buying him toys so you can play w/him and that will help get him use to the fact that its ok if you grab "his" things. I hope it works, its just hard to know what cats think. You can always get another brush and see if he does it w/that one too.

  3. Buy the cat a brush jest like hers, and give it that, our cat does the same with dirty underwear left on the bathroom floor, they jest want the things that belong to you.

  4. Cats do have irrational behaviours.Pus seems to have identified the brush as one of his bros and sisters or a mouse or a comfort toy.Best let him have it and get another. Was he/she taken away from the mother too soon. It's always good to respect an animal's individualism, even if it's negative to humans

  5. Quite odd. I've never known a cat to do this with anything but their prey, only dogs. Might think its prey...
