Why is my cat doing this?

out of nowhere my cat will just lay down in his littler box its really nasty and it pisses me off, i give him multiple showers because of this. how can i get him to stop?

maybe he likes showers. maybe clean the box a lot so it is not nasty.

They do that alot just dont pay any attention to it

If you ever see him in the litter box just take him out and let him know that you are angry.  You can also try putting a bed a little close 2 the litter box nd put some treats on it and he will get distracted and hopefully just sit in the bed.  But make sure he duznt get the habit of sitting in his litter box.  Always makre sure you keep it clean because if it is dirty and he sits in it he might get a disease.

My cat did this shortly after coming to live with us. That is how she got the nick name "Dirtball" affectionately of course! lol

Cats generally do that to leave their scent there. So it's saying Hey this is my territory. when ever you catch him in there, scare him away.
