Question:

Why is my cat doing this? ?

I'm home today which is rare during the day, my cat comes downstairs where I'm at and she looks in shock to see I'm home. She slyly moves to a spot and squats. As I'm noticing this, she starts to urinate. My boyfriend said that spot seems like cat urine, but it's not too potent. I grabbed her and put her in the room where her food, water, and litter box are. My question is why is she doing this? She is 12 years old, spayed, and her litter box is clean. Any ideas would be nice, thank you!

  1. She must be upset about something that either has been done to her or that is being done to her. When cats pee in odd spots they are upset. You just have to think about any changes that has happened to her they she may be upset about.

  2. urinary tract infection

  3. well i would say that you should take her to the vet if shes been using the litter box all this while then just stops take her to a vet dont worry theres probably something they can do to help you out with that if there is nothing physically wrong with her

  4. 1. She may have just been real surprised to see you, but I think this is more important.  If "her room" is not very big that contains both her food bowl AND her litter box, I'm not surprised she doesn't want to urinate and probably defecate in the same room where she eats.  I would think you would want to have those activities taking place in different areas.  Sort of like the same thing why our kitchens and dining areas are separated from our bathrooms.

  5. well as the age can have a affect to the problam  im thinking she got startaled you were there awas saying IM HERE why are you here its my terriory and you are in it but see the vet to be safe

  6. Mmm, is this the only occasion on which she does this? Is she a bit of a madam in any other way?

I also wonder whether (if she isn't otherwise difficult) something is wrong. She's getting older and perhaps a trip to the vet might resolve this?

  7. there might be a problem, i think as cats get older they have bladder control

problem, or shes just marking her territory, or shes forgeting how to use the litter.ask the vet.

  8. She was upset that you came home early and showed it. That's a cat for you. Basically, she was playing with you, kind of an "Haha, I'll teach you to disrupt my plans!". I wouldn't worry too much if it was a one time thing. Besides, depending on how long the urine was developing in the body, it won't smell that much, much like a human.

  9. Cats like routine.

Maybe you've disrupted her daily routine

  10. because she wants to
