She is a year old and is toilet trained but lately she hasn't been using her litter tray (she has been going in corners). Why is she doing it and how can i stop it?

  1. This is often a sign of urinary tract infections or bladder crystals. Take her to the vet or give her Baytril for 10 days and Urinary food and see if she gets better.

  2. is she fixed?

did you get a new pet?

    someone move in/out?

    new litter?

    new litterbox?

    did you change the location?

was she scared while using it or going to it?

    is the area high traffic?

    do you clean it daily?

It may also be health related.

  3. some catz miss they will learn!

  4. wow!!! i hear you , i have a total of six cats, and only the smaller ones tend to do this, there also potty trained however they keep doing it when the male leader, comes back from the backyard after a night of party, if you don't have other cats i would suggest to clean it with soapy water, cats tend to be extra clean and they will go back to basics if the litter box is not impeccable, they also do this when your cleaning it, i don't think this is the case, most likely it could be that she is very uncomfortable with her litter , and at the last case it could be that the litter on the litter box, is not of her liking anymore. if your cat keeps doing this after changing the brand and you see weird stuff coming out of her on the corners, dont think too much take her to the vet, she might have an infection.

  5. HI - cause is either medical or psychological:

If medical take her to the vet - it could be a urinary tract infection, flu or something else.

If psychological - have you changed something? Even something insignificant to us - like the litter, the place where it is, her food, where her bed is, brought a new person into the family?

Try rewarding her when you find poo in the litter and letting her see you place the poo back in the litter tray.
