Why is my cat peeing everywhere?!?

i know this has already been asked. i've read every answer thats posted on the internet.

my cat is almost 2. he never had a urination problem until this last June. he peed all over my bed for the first time.

some background. he has the herpes virus, but is medicated with Enisyl twice a day.

so i went to the vet after it kept persisting. she did a urinalysis and my cat had crystals in his urine. so for the past 2 months, he's been eating prescription wet food to help the pH of his urine.

but he still continued.

last week, i confined him to my bedroom, which houses his food & litterbox. i left him in there for 5 whole days. i felt so sorry for him and he slept all day and probably didn't care. he didn't pee on ANYTHING when he was in confinement. not even on my bed.

so i let him out. he did so well. then 3 days later, i find pee in the laundry. tonight, pee on my bed.

i don't know what else to do.

is there anyone willing to save/adopt my cat??

  1. Adopt your cat? All that giving up just because he is peeing on your bed? Man, you are selfish. Try something. Like there is an odour control spray ( anitibacterial ) if you can't find something to stop him from peeing on your bed. If not, check the vet. You might be able to find a spray which would stop him from peein on the same spot/area. Please do not put him up for adoption, all just because he has some urination problem. I lost my cat due to stone in his kidney. It is hard. Don't let him lose you all just because he can't control his bladder!

  2. are you kidding me? you want to get rid of your cat because of this? shame on you.

As for the pee problem, my cat did the same things. He always had bladder problems (born with them). See if that is the case.

Also, is he fixed? He could be marking his territory.

Spray natures miracle on the pee spots to remove the odor so he wont smell his urine and think it is okay to pee there. Give him a treat every time you catch him using his litterbox.

  3. Hi I can see that you try to do right for your cat. Cat urine is hard to tolerate. You mentioned that the he was ok in confinement but the bad habit came back when he was allowed in the whole house. Then confine him one room and then over time allow him into a bigger area such as adjacent rooms etc. Meanwhile invest in 2nd litter tray and maintain the litter trays very clean. Also clean soiled area thoroughly. If he prefers one spot more than other areas, use menthol/lemon scented spray. Cats do not like the smell. You might also put him in the litter tray every hour to see he is more willing to urinate. And have a quality time with your cat and build loving relationship again. And please do not get rid of your cat when he behaves like this.

Hi TawnyS, how things are going? Any improvement? And i am wondering if your cat is a purebred. 27 aug 08

  4. don't get rid of the kitty...bitter apple doesn't work a lot of the time...try the confinement again and keep your eye on him...his urinary problem (which was probably your fault for feeding him too much dry food) might have developed a bad habit...if you see him start to "dig" or squat as if hes about to pee quickly grab him before any pee comes out scold him and tap him on the nose firmly but not hard place him in his litter-box..if this continues you might need to try something else for his urinary problem as the food might not be helping enough...if all this fails maybe then give him away...is he fixed because if hes not then he may simply be marking...that can usually be remedied by having him neutered...try to look at everything that could be wrong...another cat may be hanging around the house causing him to mark because his territory is threatened...look around outside for strays...just try every measure before you get rid of him

  5. TRY USING THE PRODUCT BITTER APPLE ON YOUR BED OR ANYWHERE SO YOUR CAT WONT GET ON AND PEE ON IT AND DONT WORRY THE PRODUCT IS ODER LESS TO HUMANS

  6. Your cat could have behavioral issues. Have you changed its food? changed the location of the litter box? It could be that. My cat gets UTI'S as well so i took her back to the vet and they check to make sure her food was still working and it was. So they prescibed me prozac for kitties. I know it sounds funny but it has helped tremendously. Also It could be that the food they prescribed to you is not working. Take your cat back to the vet and make sure it doesn't have crystals. And if it does they will try a different food. Good luck!

  8. Geez, a lot of people wanted to start talkin sh*t and saying some pretty rude things to you pretty quickly. He is a needy cat, which I sympathize with - it's hard. Not everyone who rescues a kitty can afford extremely unforseeable expenses, like his poor feline problems. You have to do what you have to do. You can stay home with him for a day and try to catch him in the act so you can spritz him with some water and see if that works - or go back to basics and give him a treat everytime he goes in the box. Best of luck to you!

  9. Cats pee on stuff when they are mad or jealous sometimes. Or if the littler box gets too full, and sometimes if a lot of clutter builds up on the floor, like clothes or towels, they sometimes start to pee there.
