Why is my cat peeing on my things?!?!?

I've had this cat for a few months. Hes a little over a year old and been nothing but problems. At first he did his business OUTSIDE off the litter box. It was like his little tooshie was just over the edge and it all landed on the floor. We solved that by getting a little box that had a cover on it so he had no choice but to aim right. Then he started barfing all over the house. We'd wake up in the morning and found 3 or 4 barf batches. He hasn't done that in a while so I figured it was hairballs. And since day one he's excessively cleaned himself. Always l*****g his legs and belly till there was no hair left and then started meowing at our bedroom door at night. I would let him in if he'd just sleep at the end of the bed. We tried it and all night long he walked all over us and our heads. So we got this thing you plug in the wall called Pet Ease which releases some scent only cats can smell and its suppose to make them chill out and relax. Well for the last few nights we've had that, he left us alone at night, but peed on my new king size comforter I had in the hallway. I didn't notice it until last night when I went to put it on my bed and it smelled of cat pee...then I found the big wet mark. So I got mad and threw it back in the hallway and I was going to wash it today and work up this morning and its like he did nothing but pee on it all night! it was soaked! So now I'm just going to eat the $100 I spent on it and trash it. Why is he doing that? Its like revenge of the cat pee b/c I won't let him sleep with me. How can I keep him from peeing on anything else?

  1. Your cat does not like the litter that you are using.

Change the litter... and MAKE SURE THE BOX IS CLEAN!

You might offer it 2 types of litter and see which one he wants to use.

When you put the comforter back into the hall you said to the cat...IT'S OK TO USE THIS AS A LITTER BOX.  (why in the world is a comforter laying in a hall anyway?)

You can take alcohol and use it on the comforter... if it is washable use the alcohol FIRST.  THEN WASH... if it is dry clean only just use the alcohol.. and hang out where it will dry completely.

spray it on the comforther so it will go THROUGH the padding inside.  and then put it on a line or hanging over a chair to dry.

Going over the side is normal... how is your aim  while squating?

I use a tall storage box for a cat sand box.  It works great and is open so I can see when it needs to be cleaned.

Try the alcohol ... don't trash the comforter.

Re walking all over you at night... that is what kittens do.. You have to train the cat (just like you train a child).

Some don't agree with me but I spank my cats... usually it only is needed once... I dont' hit hard.. just like you would slap a fly off your arm... it get the message across to the kitten that this is NOT approved behavior... Thier mom did the same thing to them...or bit them to stop a certain behavior.  (you do it to a horse/ dog etc.)

YOU are going to have to train the kitten if you want a decent cat.

    good luck

  2. He is claiming ur things to be HIS territory...

P.S: if he brings a dead animal, try not to look repulsed.....he is being grateful to u by offering ur a gift... go figure

  3. Well, if it's a male, and he's not nuetered, that could be ur peeing issue. non-neutered males sptay to attract chicks. as far as the puking and such, my cat ( a female) who i had several years ago was ripping out her hair and swallowing it and we found it was from an unknown allergy and it was going to cost a fortune to properly diagnose and medicate her. hopefully that's not what's going on with ur cat. also, u can't rule out the possibility of worms. my friend's had worms and had been going everywhere (both 1 and 2) and since they've been treating him, he's been doing better. hope this info helps

  4. It sounds like your cat wants a lot of attention.  I would just try playing with him as much as I can throughout the whole day.  And you should let him get on your bed and just pet him or play with him until he is asleep.  The reason he is peeing everywhere is because he wants attention.  Cat will do anything to get attention, even if they know it is wrong.  If you play with him before you go to sleep, he will be very tired out and fall asleep too.  I would take him to the vet about the throwing up because you can tell if its a hairball or barf because hairball has little peices of hair and its not just liquid.  good luck!

  5. I think that maybe you should go to a vet/get professional help with this, but

perhaps you shouldn't leave things in the hallway?

maybe he's bored? Try some catnip toys.

Cats always clean themselves like that, thats just what they do. There are special things you can add to their food to make the hairballs digest/dissolve, if you don't like that.

  6. are you sure that the cat is a male??? cuz that sounds like a unspayed female cat. the crying, the spraying, the l*****g....

the only to stop it if he is a she is to get her spayed

  7. It's most likely your cat has a urinary tract infection. Peeing in inappropriate places is a common sign of illness in cats. Please take him to a vet to be checked. Also, get rid of the covered litter box and either buy a larger litter box or use an under the bed storage box as a litter box. Cats need room to scratch around when they go. Also, if the comforter isn't already gone you can salvage it by washing it with vinegar (a couple of times would be best). That will remove the odor and you won't have to eat the $100. It could also be that your not cleaning his box often enough. Once daily is necessary.
