I am just wondering why my cat is obese, is this a disease????

Well how much do you feed your cat? Is it on a special weight formula? If your leave your cat's food bowl full all the time cats are kinda gluttonous and will often over eat. Do you play with your cat and give it lots of exercise?

If you feed right and play with it a lot then there might be a medical reason your cat is obese and you should take it to the vet for tests.

like people it is food and sloth.

control the portions the cat eats, maybe 1/3 cup of dry in the morning and a small can of wet in the evening. gradually reduce the dry food as you watch the condition of your cat.  It will be more interested in play as it loses weight, too.  So get some peacock feathers, dangly toys and possibly a laser pointer (be careful of the eyes) and Play!

a bird feeder out of a window is also quite entertaining.

Your cat is obese because he just has a personality where he gets bored and eats when he's bored...Please try just putting his bowl down for him 3 times a day and letting  him eat for like 10 minutes and then removing the bowl...If you let him "free feed", he's gonna stay fat.. :-)

And please try to find a way to get him some excercise...Lazer pointers are great excercise.. :-)
