Squeals. Clunking. Scraping. Clicking. Whistleing. Alot of scary, annoying noises at seemingly random times. Then it will go for weeks without a sound. Are there any dangers? Do ceiling fans ever explode or fall of the ceiling? Its pretty old, at least 10 years and I don't think it's ever been cleaned.

  1. Sweetie,

and clorox..together..i know im crazy --clean

u will be amazed at the quality of air that you breathe...once its cleaned.......amazing.............g/f...... i have been there done that...i only answer when i have something constructive...good luck

  2. 10 years up on the ceiling where all the hot air is??  yes, the bearings in the motor assembly are probably dried out and ready to go,,, replace that old fan,,, it could cause a fire if it over heats!!!!

  3. Considering it's 10 years old, it sounds like a bearing in the motor is on the way out - time for a new fan!

  4. you need to get a new one maybe the motor is on its way out.  cant see it being a danger though but if i were you i would definately just get a newer one

  5. it might have a loose s***w or something, or mayb since it hasnt been cleaned theres a lot of dust clogging a clean spin.

if your worried about it hire an electritian to check it out, or check it out yourself its not too hard. But ive never heard of a fan exploding, they can collapse and fall but its not very common

  6. It's either out of balance or it has a loose fan blade, other than that it would have to be the motor needs maintainance.
