Why is my chinchilla biting his fur?

  1. it eaither has fleas or is cleaning  itself. maybe even itching itself, call a vet, he/she will know best


  2. Alright, first, the density of a chinchillas fur makes it impoosible (or very close to) to get fleas or mites.

    When a chin dusts, it rids itself of all material on it's skin, so their is no habitat for parasites.

    Fur biting is actually really serious. Fur biting happens when a chinchilla gets stressed and panicked. Kind of like a smoker after a stressful day at the office.

    Sadly, there isn't a whole lot you can do to help the fur biting, it usually goes away on its own. Just moniter it to make sure it doesn't get worse.

    Again. Chins to not get fleas or mites. It's a mental issue.
