  1. It is scared and spooked by the flag. It could be the colors, the size, the sound it makes or the way you are introducing it to the bird.

I introduce one new thing a day to my words in order to desensitize them so normal things don't spook them and cause them stress. However, a huge way of being able to do that that is really important is how you introduce those new things.

The best way is to let the new object lay on a flat surface and let your bird check it out. This way the object isn't 'trying to get your bird' in his mind and plays no role of a threat. But if you bring a huge flag up to your bird fast and out of no where, he will want nothing to do with the terrifying object that is attacking him for no reason.

So be careful when introducing new things to your bird and do it in a non-threatening way.

  2. Why is he acting so strange?

What the h**l is wrong with you?

You're obviously terrifying the animal.  Why would you do it again?

    That is animal abuse.

  3. It's scared!!! It's not really like they know what things are that he/she's never seen before. It's not strange at all! They can't really interpret that you are moving it, it looks like the flags moving on it's own. Stop scaring it. You're making it hurt itself.=(
