Why is my computer beeping at me?

i just added more ram to my computer to make it 1 g but after about 10 or 15 min it starts beeping and wont stop,the m/b specks say i can have up to 3 g so it cant be too much ram i have a 1 512 and 2 256 ddr so i know its not too much but i think it starts to get hot, i pull out the 1 stick 256 and its fine, it sees the ram so i know its working.

Most likely, you have mis-matched ram or you need to change the slots that you have the ram in.  Check the specs on your motherboard.  Usually, you can have 1,2 or 4 (NOT 3) sticks of memory in your system if you have 4 slots.  Basically, if you have 2 matched ram sticks, you will need to have 2 more matched sticks in order for them to work together.  Again, check you mobo specs or pass that info along in with your question and I can help you look it up.
