  1. Start>Accessories>System Tools> and then Restore back to the date previous to your problem, then Restart

  2. well my computer used to do that

turns out i have over 150 viruses on my computer

you have to some how get your computer flushed of your viruses

and get rid of things you dont need on your computer

and it should be faster and stop restarting on you

  3. Theres a few reasons why it might be restarting automatically.

1.) You have a virus installed that Restarts your computer Randomly.

2.) You set your settings to check for updates every day, and if there are updates available they will install updates and restart your computer if needed.

3.) If anyone else has been on your computer before, they may be the reason for these restarts. They could make a desktop icon that looks like your normal web browser, but its really not its a joke, its an application that restarts or shuts down your computer.

  4. Run Windows XP Task Manager. Watch the CPU

usage. If the machine shut down faster when your activity of the CPU usage is high, it could be related to overheating. Or it could be a viruse. Go to google and type in virus scan. You can scan for free.

  5. Computer that restarts randomly may be caused by the following:

    1. Overheting of the Power Supply- Check the power supply wattage and make it sure that it is 500W-650W.If you suspect about the power supply, replace it with a branded one.

    2. CPU FAN - Check the FAN of the CPU. Open your computer case and check if it is running.

    3. Viruses - Scan your computer for some viruses in our computer. Sometimes, viruses may have caused the corruption of your system files that causes the restarting.

    4. Hardware - Check for any hardwares in your computer that is not properly plug or inserted. This also causes the restating of your computer.

    good luck!

  6. This happened to one of my friend B4, we thought it was a virus as well but it happened that it was just the power supply which was failing,

so you can check it out it may not be virus after all =)

  7. sometimes its because it was infected with spyware or some other virus. sometimes the system, from a bug, gets caught in a start-up reboot cycle. i had a computer do this to me and i called the windows people and they said that my XP was susceptable to these types of attacks because the anitvirus/spyware thing was not complete. Best wishes and give em a call. Surely they can give you further instructions on how to save what you have on the hard-drive now.

  8. Spyware, malware, adware or a virus, any one of those could be causing it,over heating could do it too.Run scans with all your protection first and see if it stops.
