Question:

Why is my computer shutting of on its own?

I turn it on and all is fine, i start using it and all of the sudden the screen goes black. the cpu its still on and i can hear the componets inside running but i dont get any image, i tought maybe video card and i tried using the default one ( i have an ATI one installed) and still it hAPPENS help!

  1. this happens to me what it normally is is the computer over heating


  2. If it was overheating, your CPU would turn off to protect itself. IF the CPU's still running, but you have no image, it's a hardware problem with your monitor.

    Getting a new monitor will fix the problem. Maybe getting a new monitor > CPU cable (or power cable) will fix it.

    My guess is that your cables are a bit loose. Check that they're in properly.

  3. Well i dont think its the video card that does this, the power supply could be just acting up, if the screen goes black, then it could be the monitor as well, use another monitor, and if it continues to do that, then its something else..


  4. it's over heating or problems with the display.That actually kept happening to me and  it was over heating,but in my case the computer shutdown completely.

    you should go to where you bought it,even if the warranty period is over they might be able to answer questions or tell you where you can take it to be fixed.
