  1. If your virus/spyware free, there are  a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don't always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.

First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

    2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

    1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser

    2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".

    3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.

    4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.

    5. Click OK.

    3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to bare-bones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

    1. Open your Start menu.

    2. Click Run

    3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"

    4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab

    5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

    6. Click "OK"

  2. Without more information it's hard to say, but I can make the following suggestions:

    1) Make sure your hard drive isn't too full. I try to keep at least 25% free space to keep decent performance.

    2) Try defragmenting your hard drive. The program to do it is:

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

When you run the defragmenter, be sure all other programs are closed and wait until it is finished before you use the computer again.

    3) Check to make sure that there aren't a bunch of programs running in the background and slowing things down. Some programs like to stay running in the system tray (that little area down by the clock)... these slow things down and may not be necessary. Try right clicking on a few of these and selecting "Exit" or "Close" from the menu that pops up. If everything is still working fine after that, the program probably didn't need to be running anyway. These will pop back up again after you restart your computer...if you want to disable them permanently use msconfig.exe (I've included a link below that shows you how).

    4) Lastly, try restarting your computer if you haven't already. A lot of the time simply restarting the computer clears out a lot of stuff that had been bogging the system down.

    Hope that helps!

  3. You may have a virus on your PC. Also try rearrange data in your control panel to make things run faster. Removing unused programs can also help free up space on hard drive

  4. after a while a computer gets filled wtih files and programs and downloadables.. so of course it wil be slower than when you got it. try deleting some programs you don't need... i found that when i downloaded anti-virus on my computer it made my computer slowe

  5. delete the antivirus and your computer should go faster on account that thats less it has to run
