I think my footpedal is causing my cursor (or insertion point, or point at which my typing is being inserted) to move, and when I look up at my work, I am typing 3 lines up, 4 lines down, whatever. I use a footpedal for transcription (USB). I have NEVER had a problem before. Just got my computer back from being fixed today. This is happening in Word and in Outlook. It is driving me NUTS. What is causing this?

  1. Is the mouse dirty\damaged...

Why do you use a footpedal....i thought we are beyond the age of the PDP-11

  2. It could be the same as my laptop using the touch pad therefore it is 'touchy'. It could be because you are using an infra red mouse therefore use one with a line to test the difference.

Alternatively check the remote control as a final precaution.

Nothing amazing but it did happen to me a couple of times.

Have you tried Vista or another XP service pack (3) ?
