Why is my dad treat me like an idiot?

He enrolled me in cram driving course. It was expensive and I wanted my parents to teach me. He insults me, saying I'm going to fail/fall asleep in class. I do the same things in HS and I'm an A student, so why can't he just trust me?

For example, I told him that most teens in my class already have driving experience, and that I'm behind because I don't, but he refuses to teach me. He wants an instructor to teach me, which I think is a waste of money b/c we only have a certain amount of lessons and preplanned courses that DEVELOP skills, which I won’t even have. I know I'm a slow practical learner, so I need PRACTISE, which he refuses.

Also, I take naps after school then stay up to study. I've done this since Gr 9 but I study better at night. He always assumes that I sleep in class. My friends get more sleep and they end up sleeping through entire classes. I can stay awake and focused when I need to.

My question is why does my dad act like I'm totally incompetent? He's making me resentful toward him and toward driving. I don't even feel like learning anymore because of these incidents.

I look back & I'm glad I just got on with getting to where I wanted to in life..

Don't become a negative like he is - work hard to get to where you want to go and don't be so easily influenced by others who try to put you down. This way, you will strengthen your character & become a wow of a person to deal with later in life.
