Question:

Why is my daughter doing this?

My daughter just turned a year old and lately when she wakes up in the morning she has been shaking really bad. She only stops when she gets something to eat. (she does not do it when she wakes up from her naps which usually are only about 30 mins to an hour)

We make sure the room is not to cold at night, but when she wakes up her feet are purplish and very cold and we have to rub them alot to get them warm and the color back into them.

When she was first born they had to take her blood sugar levels before i breastfed her everytime, but she was released from the hospital with no blood sugar issues, so........

Could these things be a sign that she is having issues with her blood sugar levels again and why would it only have started recently? Or is it something else all together?

Thanks for any help with this =)

  1. It sounds like blood sugar problems (I get like that now, and I'm 24 years-old).  It could be something else, but, regardless, you should take her to the doctor when you can so she can get tests.

  2. I immediately thought of diabetes or something causing low blood sugar. The reason she wouldn't wake up from nap like that is that it is not as long since the last time she ate. Talk to her doctor tell her the symptoms and get her tested as soon as possible. Do you notice she is often tired or thirsty? These are often signs of low blood sugar also

    * sorry I didn't mean to imply you weren't thinking of going to the drs- I know it is often the answer given. We mothers post these questions just for the reason you gave- for a litlle reasssurance or knowledge during a worry

  3. this sounds pretty serious...i dont think its just a temperature issue because im sure youve dealt with that already---So it must be a health issue and i suggest you speak to your ped immediately.

  4. Well, it kinda sounds like you've named both of my opinions.

    1.  The temperature - I know my baby boy sweats alot so we have a fan on him with cool blankets... but a few months ago, when it was colder, his legs would be frozen because he'd kick off the blankets.  I started putting him in the full body sleepers to keep all of him warm.

    2. Sugar levels - I know when I go awhile without food, (ex: bedtime), I often get the shakes... Try giving her milk and a snack before bedtime to see if that helps.

  5. Please take your daughter to her Dr. that is the only place you will find out what is wrong if anything is wrong with her, none of is Dr. and you don't want to take advice when there could be something wrong.

  6. awww

    take her to the doctors.

  7. With all due respect, you are asking strangers on yahoo answers about a potentially serious situation regarding your daughters health.  CALL HER PEDIATRICIAN AND GET PROFESSIONAL ADVICE!

  8. Im not entirely sure but it's just a guess..

    Maybe she could have diabetes?

But she might not.. i suggest going to see a doctor and describe to them the symptoms

    Hope she gets better

  9. this sounds like a low blood sugar reaction I'd talk to my Doc ASAP
