Why is my daughter peeing in her pants?

my daughter just turned 3 and she has been doing great with the potty training, but the last month she has regressed and will pee on the floor and in her pants.

i bought her her own pink stool to get up on the potty and a new dora seat to sit on to try to get her back into it.

any suggestions as to why she's doing this and how to fix it?

  1. Does she get more attention for peeing in her pants than she gets for going in big potty?  You might get her a special bathroom game or puzzle that she uses when she sits on big potty--something with music or lights.  Praise her when she goes, call grandma, call Daddy, call Oprah!

  2. Lots of kids go 'backwards' before going forwards again - just as you think you've cracked the potty training!

Hopefully its just a phase, however, leaving several pottys around the house can help, lots of praise when she manages to get to the potty.

A reward system is a really good way and worked wonders with my Little one, have a tick chart on your fridge or wherever and when she manages to go she gets to reward herself with a tick on her chart or even a sticker and when she's built up enough stickers/ticks she gets a little treat? if she has an accident you remove a tick or add a cross so she can see when shes had an accident.

Do it for a week each time ie, Mon to Friday/Sunday. kids love to get rewards for good behaviour.

    hope this helps?.

  3. Play games with her in the bathroom while she sits on the potty or try letting her put money in her piggy bank when she goes like I'd let my kids put 5 or 6 pennies in every time they'd pee in the potty depending on how much they did. If they only tinkled a little they'd get 2 -3 pennies. If they did #2 they'd get 10 cents. Both they'd get 25 cents. Good luck. hope this works.

  4. hi ia a mom of 6 three are 21/2 yr old triplets. potty training can be tricky. if she was doing well she would be done with potty training but if you are still in the middle stages exp( pullups reminding every 30 min and still not able to leave the house without fearing she will have a accident) then this is normal. potty training should only take 3-5 days when a child is ready. and when i say ready i mean no pullups only at night for about 1-2months and they should almost allways wake up dry. if ready here is a remedy go to the store and have her pick out the underpants. then bye the plastic covers (genraly greber brand is what i find) place these over her underpants and take her to the potty every 15-20min until she goes. then set a timer for 45 min later asking on occasion if she needs to go. and at the timer buzz take her if she has not gone on own, only keep her on the potty for 5min max and if she does not go start the 15min again trips ontil goal is achived. this is a 3-5 day job. plan on staying home for a few days( weekend)just remember dont go back to pullups or dipers expt (night) (and place underpants over.) for nothing ! this will only confuse her. and cause her to have more accidents. pullups and dipers dont allow them to feel wetness early enough cotton does. and this allows them to understand there own body signals of when they need to go. and do not punish her it will only delay her progess. just remind her she is now a big girl & get mini m&ms for rewards 1 for pee 2for poo and purchase a big kid toy or puzzle and keep telling her only big kids can play with it. after a week or so of no accidents they forget about the candy and you can stop giving it . they enjoy your happiness of there success more. i have had great success whith this. have 6 kids and own a preschool for 12 yrs and all of my kids were pottytrained at 2-21/2 with out having to were pullups at night after about a 2-3 week period.

limit drinks after 7pm and take a bathroom trip right before bed ( after storie time )  good luck  and dont stress she will be pottytrained befor kindergardten .
