Why is my daughter suddenly regressing with her potty training?

I began potty training my daughter a little over six weeks ago and she took to it right away! I was thrilled! Needless to say, she was "day-trained" for both urine and bowel movements by her third birthday, which was three weeks ago. My goal had been achieved. She was even beginning to stay dry at night, as well. Her pull-ups have been mostly dry. Just when I began to totally trust her with this, three days ago she began having accidents in her panties during the day. First, she urinated down her leg, realized her mistake and hated it. Then yesterday AND today, she had partial bowel movements in her panties, also realizing her mistake in that, but also angry at me for making her sit on the potty to "finish" her bowel movement in the proper place. Why is she suddenly either forgetting or refusing to go in time? She had totally perfected it in these past weeks, and now, suddenly, I feel as if we're back where we started. Though I'm trying hard not to be, I grow more frustrated.

  1. Is she around younger children (diaper wearers). If so that might be the problem. My son (2 at the time)was completely potty trained when we had his lil brother. and my 2 yr old wanted badly to put the diapers on.

Also, is there anything "new" going on around her. If there is just let her know that it will still be there when she gets finished goin to the potty.      good luck

  2. Because she wasn't fully potty trained.  Until a child is dry 24/7 they're not fully potty trained.

  3. Has something happened in her life that would be stressful for her???  New sibling, new daycare, new schedule, you going back to work, etc??   My daughter was pretty much day urine potty trained, but when I had my son she regressed a bit and was having alot more accidents.  I've heard it's completely normal if there has been some changes.

It may be something as simple as changing times she goes to bed.
