  1. If this is a female and it's her "hoo-ha", perhaps she's in heat.

  2. My general rule of thumb is the 3 day factor.  In 3 days things either get better or worse.  If they get worse then take medical action.  Watch the dog closely to see if there are any other symtoms to report to the vet.

  3. have u taken her 2 the groomers lately maybe the groomer cut the hair back their 2 short

  4. Could she be in heat?

If your behind was red and swollen, wouldn't you want to know why and have something done about it?

Call the vet. They may want you to bring her in, or they may be able to give you some things to try without an office visit.  If they say bring her in, then bring her in.  If she was sitting in the yard, maybe she's just having an allergic reaction to fertilizer or weed killer.  In that case, a bath and some Benadryl will fix it, but you won't know unless you call the experts.

It could be something very inexpensive and simple, if you're lucky.  It could be something that will get worse, and ultimately more expensive, if not treated early.

  5. You should start by calling your vet.  They can tell you the costs of an exam and whether they need to see your dog or not.  Maybe they can tell from your description what is wrong with the dog and just tell you what you should do at home to make her better.  My vet does that for me sometimes.

    Just make the call!
