Question:

Why is my dog having sneezing fits?

My dog occassionally has sneezing fits. It'll go on for about 10-15 minutes almost constantly and it's one of the whole body sneezes. It doesn't seem to be anything serious, but I was just wondering if anybody else has a dog that does this. Is it just allergies? Or maybe just getting into dust? I want to make sure that she's not in any real pain.

  1. Sneezing two or three times is normal, plus an occasional sneezing bout if it's dusty.

If she's showing any signs of pain, shaking the head, rubbing her nose, any discharge from the nose, noisy breathing, then it could be something stuck up her nose, such as a grass seed or twig.

If this is the problem then you need to see the vet.

Sneezing can also be a sign of respiratory disease, so it may be worth you seeing the vet and getting her checked, just to be on the safe side.

  2. I would take him to the vet to rule out seizures or anything serious.

Probably, he's sticking his nose where it doesn't belong :)

  3. see a vet immediatly

  4. I would have said allergies but 10-15 minutes seems a little weird. I would talk to your vet.

  5. Yup! My weenie dog did the same. It was allergies. And believe it or not, they have Rx allergy meds for the pooches! She never liked taking them, but they did help. Before that I never knew an animal could have allergies like us owners lol

But on a serious note, I would still take ur poochie to the vet to make sure and possibly make her a lil bit more comfortable. Especially with an episode lasting 10-15 minutes! Poor Pooch!
