  1. Sometimes if they were babied alot when they're puppies they will act that way..as if you are their responsibility to guard. Or if they arent very aquainted with the world outside their home/yard..  You just need to get her used to being around a lot of different people other then just the people that she is around every day!! And just re-assure her every time someone new comes around that its okay... and punish her n let her know its not okay when she acts that way around other people, and if she eventually calms down around other people praise her for it! But you definatly dont want to let it keep going, because she could become a not-so-nice of a dog anymore..that wouldnt be fun!!

    Hope all goes well! =]

  2. She is protecting you, plain and simple!

  3. She was protecting the house. One way to solve this is to desensitize her to people. Give some really yummy food to your friend. Put a leash of snow so you can better control her if you need to. Have your friend be at a distance, (maybe start outside your entire house area). Have your friend approach, and throw Snow some really yummy food. Tell your friend no-talk, no touch, no-eye-contact. The last is very important.  Throw the food while ignoring and just repeat. If Snow starts acting out, then ask your friend to move back to a farther distance until Snow is comfortable. If Snow chases after your friend you can use the leash to keep her inside the house area. Once she is comfortable, you can slowly reduce the distance.

  4. ether she was protecting you or protecting "its" territory and no i was not calling your do an it...

  5. Snow (lovely name) clearly felt your vistor was not to be trusted. Is this the first time she did this? Has she been allowed to sniff vistors before they come in or was this just her caught by suprise? Dogs do often sense when someone is not right and maybe this is what she was trying to tell you. How well do you know this new friend? At the end of the day though, its your house, not hers, you pay the rent and she doesnt so you should decide who comes in, not Snow! Try asking vistors to let her smell them but only if she is calm when they approach, get them to look away from her while she is sniffing and to not speak or touch her until she either goes away (means shes ok with them) or she invites a greeting in which case your visitors could then say hi, so long as she is still calm! Hope this helps!

  6. She is protecting the house and you. dogs sometimes think they are the guardians of the house and of you. Try watching the Animal Planets "Its me or the dog." You can get some great training tips. she is Great with all dogs and all problems, like you  are having. It is on, Saturday nights give it a try.

  7. Many dogs are territorial and she was warning you and your family that someone was entering your territory.  Your Dog Snow needs to be introduced to your friend properly, to know that it is OK for her to come into your family's home.  Keep treats in hand next time your friend comes over and be prepared to reward her for good behavior.  I would also give your friend a shirt of yours that you have worn and has your smell on it to have on her when she comes over.  Have Snow on a leash and when Snow barks at her the first time give a firm NO and make her sit.  Have the friend approach Snow while he/she is sitting and every time he barks say NO.  When she gets near Snow, let him sniff her hand.  Then give Snow a treat and say "Good Boy/Girl"! Do it over and over until you don't need Snow on a leash anymore.   You want Snow to still keep watch over your house, but to be friendly to those you invite over.  Good Luck!
