I have a boxer 3 years old. She is housebroken and usually never pees in the house. We started redoing our basement a bit. And she i starring to pee there a lot and i have also noticed that sometimes you can see pee dripping and she doesn't bother to go outside! This never happened before. we also have a new rug. Should we be punishing her???

  1. I agree that she probably has a urinary infection. Our dog had one and she started peeing everywhere. Take her to the vet.

My mom put mothballs down on the spots she had peed on before to keep her from peeing there out of habit. It's worked so far.

  2. She may be sick. I would take her to the vet and make sure she's ok. If she is, yes I would punish her. She may think since it's new stuff I've never smelled I can pee on it.

  3. it could be a stress thing .... there's a lot of disruption going on in the house and she's probably feeling very insecure (boxers are prone to insecurity anyway).... as for her pee dripping... she's probably being like a child - trying to hold on until she can't anymore.... the fact she's in the basement all the time will answer why she pees in the basement ...... Please don't punish her - she's very anxious and it's probably the case that with so much going on no-one's paying any attention to her - she doesn't understand what's happening and it's worrying her .... you should make a point of spending time with her, especially at the end of the day - give her lots of loves and reassurances .... take her around the basement and tell her it's all ok .... let her be with someone during the day while the works's going on - a bit like her buddy ..... she'll probably improve quite quickly then ....

    :)

  4. Urinary infection, the vet can help you best. Good Luck!
