Why is my dog still menstruating if she's supposedly pregnant?

Question

We're about 99% sure shes pregnant but she's still bleeding since shes still in heat, does that mean (like a human) that shes not pregnant?

yes that's fine  some dogs will even breed with more then one male and some of the puppies will come out different breeds like one time i bread a lab with a poodle and the a golden retriever jumped my fence and bread with her to so there were some Labradors and some lab/retrievers

Let this person mate if they want too! He/She asked a simple question and all you guys can do is criticize! Wouldn't a simple 'Take her to the Vet' suffice for you people?!

well I wouldn't take her to the vet just yet because my vet said the pregnancy test doesn't show up positive until the 3rd week after being tied so going to the vet right now would be a waste of money. My dog got stuck and it took her a few days to stop bleeding. She is now pregnant and due in 20 days which is exciting. But if she is still bleeding day after day after day after being tied up then I am almost certain that she isn't. Is her nipples getting swollen? Is her tummy starting to grow? Has her attitude changed after getting stuck? All I can tell you is that make an appointment for the 3 1/2 weeks after getting tied up for a pregnancy test and that's the only way you can know for sure. I paid $70 for my dogs pregnancy test, so just don't expect it to be cheap cheap. Good luck.

dont freaking tell me t spay her, if shes pregnant it would terminate the pups,(DUH. That's the point)

and i wont since spaying ALWAYS changes a dogs personality(Of course it does no more hormones)

You don't know anything about breeding or genetics you DON'T need to be breeding ANY animal. Its as simple as that.

dogs dont menstruate.. they go into estrus.

The difference..

A human ovulates.. conception does not occour..  the body menstruates to "clean house" and the cycle begins again.  If conception occours, then there is no need for menopause

Dogs come into heat, or estrus, they ovulate DURING that time..  they are fertile for the entire heat cycle.

Humans menstraute because conception does not occour..  Dogs go thru estrus to prepare the body for conception.

She will still go thru the entire heat cycle, despite mating.. she can mate with multiple dogs thru the entire season (not reccommended)

You really need to spay your dog, if you dont even know the basics about the heat cycle, then you dont likely know enough about mating, genetics, pregnancy, whelping and puppy raising.  You are in over your head, and putting your dog's health and life at great risk if you allow a pregnancy to continue.

Is she having a miscarriage? Sounds like you need to take her to the vet.
