Why is my eye red?

so i woke up this morning and my right eye was a little blurred like there was something in it.

i used a tissue and pressed it on my eye and everything was clear and fine again.

i took a shower about 2 hours later and looked in the mirror to see the corner of my eye and it was red.

i looked closer to see the area was a bunch of red blood vessels close to each other in one area.

i looked at pictures of broken blood vessels and its not that so i'm wondering what it is and how fast it will go away.

thanks for all answers!:)

  1. this could be caused by several different things and is very hard to give you a differential diagnosis without having more information like: Do you wear contacts? Do you experience dry eye? Are you experiencing allergies? Do you have CI ( convergence insufficiency) or an eye teaming problem?

The eyes do a great job at maintaining homostasis when something goes amuck.  Hopefully the problem will resolve itself but if you have scratched to surface of your eye and bacteria has entered then you could end up with serious problems.  If you experience a fever or notice it spreading call an O.D. (Optometrist) immedatley.  Don't waste your time in the E.R. they will only refer you to an O.D.

  2. how long do u stay up at night?

  3. well first of all you are not suppose to put anything on your eyes that's probley what caused it.next time something gets in your eyes put your open eye under some cold running water....use eye drops if it doesn't get better..try useing ( opcon-A) if might help if it does stop
