When I was younger my father and I used to be so close. Ever since he moved out of our house when my mother and father got divorced he completely and slowly shut me out of his life. He simply doesnt care anymore. If we do talk it is one word responses and he never calls me unless I call him. He seems to care about others around him more so then my brother and I . I tried to fix it but he doesnt care. =(

  1. Ouch. That's got to hurt. :-( Have you said these things to him? If you haven't, you might want to try it just to see what his response is. If you tell him what you've said here, and he still acts like he doesn't care, then you know he really doesn't care and that however painful it might be, you'll need to just jettison him from your life and move on. As a last-ditch effort if he happened to be non-responsive to your comments, you could try to let him know that you'll be cutting him out of your life just to see if it means anything to him. Maybe if he sees that you are that serious about it, it might shake him up a little and make him realize what a wonderful thing he's throwing away by treating you that way.

I don't know how old you are, but whether you are old or young, it's very important to approach this with a very serious demeanor. Sometimes younger folks say things with a higher pitch when they're frustrated and angry, but you need to just keep your voice at a steady, level tone and your expression blank. I can't quite explain why, but setting this mood up within yourself should help him see the situation if there's anything left in him that still cares.

    I wish you the best.

  2. It's his loss, one day he will regret not being their for you and your brother.

  3. I felt that way too.  I have a brother too.  But maybe he is busy doing something or he's just focused on something other than that?  But to correct this problem, you need to visit him more or have him visit you.  That's one way.  Or the next time you call him, tell him you want him to call you more often.  I'm sure he'll respect that and get some time to talk to you because he's your son and he loves you and your brother more than anything in the world.  Good luck.
