  1. Females do make bubble nests, but you also may have a male plakat betta, which looks like a female.  These are pictures of male plakat bettas (notice how the fins are nearly identical to the fins of most female bettas):  http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=...

You can tell if your betta is really a female if it has a white ovipositor dot.  The ovipositor dot looks like this:  http://www.swishfish.com/images/anatomy_...

Yes, female bettas can blow bubble nests, but you should check for the ovipositor dot to make sure you have a female and not a plakat male.

Also, there is a good guide to breeding bettas here:  http://www.bettatalk.com/breeding_bettas...  Click on the tabs on the left to learn how to select stock, set up your pair, set up the spawning equipment, and learn how bettas spawn.  If you breed a quality pair of bettas like the ones Faith sells on http://www.bettatalk.com/stock_for_sale.... (just scroll down and then click on "See Strain Photos" it's a really small button but it's there), well, if you breed bettas like that then you will actually make a profit breeding them.  People love really beautiful baby bettas  :)

  2. she's making a bubble nest! :) It means she's happy and healthy and maybe ready to mate! Good luck!
