Question:

Why is my female cat peeing on everything?

She likes to pee on any clothes that are on the floor, or clothes that are on the bed, and she likes to pee on rugs. I had her for 2 years and she just now started doing this. I think she is about 4 years old. I rescued 2 new kittens, but that was about 3 months ago. She never seemed to mind them and she actually sleeps with them. I added a new automatic litter box, and kept the other 2 I already had. I didn't change the litter type or brand and I clean the boxes every night. Also how can I get her to stop?

  1. Umm, she could just be jealous.  She might not mind the kittens, but she might mind the attention you are giving them and not to only her anymore.

  2. she's obviously upset hopefully she will begin to accept & even appreciate the company you may have to confine all the

cats to a smaller area like a laundry/mudroom,etc. but for some reason the bathroom NEVER works I don't know why.

try to give the older 2-yr some secret treats and lots luv after

all, you're the boss not the cat (at least that's what I tell myself)

    lol

  3. Could be a number of things.  You really ought to get her checked out by a vet tho.  Could be that she doesn't like the new box.  Could be that she doesn't like SHARING a box.  She could have a bladder or urinary tract infection.  I would get that ruled out first.  Good luck.

  4. I had a cat who did that. She was perfectly healthy too. It's just a phase =\ Two years of clothes with pee smell and when my mother was over she would jump up beside her and pee'd next to her LOL. I cracked me up >.<

Give her more attention, she's might be mad at you for something. And don't leave clothes laying around and make your bed=P If you live tidy chances are you cat will also just goto the litterbox.

Sometimes the cat is just dumb, and confuses scents.

    It'll go away.

  5. Cats are prone to urinary tract infection. If she has one, for whatever reason (doesn't necessarily mean it's something you did or missed in taking care of her) then she may not be able to hold it like usual.

They also have cat food that is supposed to help prevent UTI. Is there a recent change in her diet?

Take her to the vet. If it is a UTI they will give her antibiotics to clear it up. The vet should also be able to help if it's behavioral or psychological.

  6. he might be marking her territory

  7. could be a few things

check the kitty litter, make sure it is clean

also, cats have a habit of doing this when they are sick or distressed. you may want to take her to the vet and have blood tests run. my cat almost died from a urinary tract infection but he started peeing everywhere first.

    good luck

  8. She could be going into heat if one of the other cats are male.  She could be marking territory that she thinks they are intruding upon.  You didn't say you fixed her.  It could be an uniary infection also.  Have her checked out at the vets.  That needs to be eliminated first.  Something is wrong or she wouldn't be suddenly spraying.

  9. My oldest does this all the time.

In my cats case, there is nothing wrong with her at all, she just likes peeing on things for no real reason, like my clothing left on the floor.

You just have to be very careful with what you leave on the floor if this is the case.

But, get her checked out, it could be a bladder infection as well.

  10. she could have a bladder problem?

  11. Many times cats will start peeing on your floor (etc) if there is a medical problem such as a bladder infection. I would call my vet and ask them if she should be seen.
