Why is my fiesta stalling when idling?

i have an n reg fiesta sapphire that keeps stalling at idle, i would like to know the reason and how to fix it. its a 1.1 petrol. i have heard that the idle speed control valve may need adjusting, if so where is it and how do i do this? i am quite new to motoring. please help, its doing my head right in. thanks

your idle speed control valve will prob need cleaning, its a very easy job on my BMW, but sorry don't knwo where it is on your car, it will be between the air filter and carburettor, try a new air filter and petrol filter as well if you want to spend the money and clean your spark plugs and check your distributor cover for wear as well. Don't worry too much, I know it's bad at the time, but there isn't anything that can't be sorted easily!
