Hi there,

I have one neon tetra in a 1 gallon tank, I've had it in my house for about half a month, I'm going to get more tetra before the end of this month but my fish has recently started behaving oddly.

I let my mum take care of the fish while I was away for two weeks, so I did not get to see what times she was feeding the fish and I've yet to ask her what times she'd been feeding it because when I tried to feed my fish it would swim in slow circles and float slightly lopsidedly(when I say slightly, I mean slightly) but my fish would not eat. I did feed it at a late hour ( 2 am ) and I turned on the light at 2 am. Maybe that shocked my fish?

Why is it behaving oddly?

  1. it could be sick or maybe your mom didnt feed it if its sick go to your local pet store and ask them to help u

  2. It could be constipated or it could have a swim bladder issue. I'd suggest getting a frozen pea, mashing it up in some aquarium water and heating it to room temperature. Feed it to your fish and if the problem is constipation is should help.

If you're going to keep the 1 gallon tank you shouldn't get more than 2 neons, and even that is pushing it.
