Why is my friend computer faster than mine?

i have a q6600 quad core 2.40ghz with (4) 1gb 333mhz ram he has a dual core 2.66ghz with 2gb i dont know the speed he has a HP i have a dell XPS 420 i dont have any virus's NONE or spyware or adware nothing i take good care of my computer considering i just got it

because his cpu is faster by .26 ghz. the only time your computer will outperform his is when the performance you gain from the 3rd and 4th cores overcomes his speed advantage.

try to run sissoftware's Sandra benchmarking software. in multithreaded applications, you should achieve higher performance than him.

or, the other usual culprits are cool n' quiet or antivirus software. tyr turning yours off for a while.

its sounds like you need more ram for a quad core processor. i have 4 gb of memory. on a 64x2. and a 300 dollar video card and it does anything i need it to,quickly.

do you both have the same version of windows?  does he have a faster video card?  do you have a video card or just what came with the computer?

Your Ram is awful compared to the rest of your setup why do you have only 333Mhz ?

Comparing a Dell computer with a HP computer is like comparing a

HP outperforms Dell, it's as simple as that.
