Why is my friends 125 faster then my 350?

Question

why is my friends rm 125 alot faster then my yamaha xt 350. i mean my bike has 225 more cc's. his bike is a 2 stroke and mine is a 4 stroke. does that make all the differnce?

2 Strokes can put out a lot more power for the same CC, they have twice as many power strokes essentially,and also tend to be lighter. Its all about power to weight (and gear ratios of course)

with out knowing the details on the bikes it is hard to say.the 2 stroke does have 2 power strokes to 1 on the 4 stroke,but it probably is not twice as powerful.  the 2 stroke is usually lighter, so that helps. gearing can make a huge difference, the two stroke will usually rev a lot higher. your xt 350 should have a higher top speed,but be not accelerate as fast as the RM. If the Rm is alot faster, you need to get that yamaha tuned. unless the RM is real new and your xt is real old, the xt should win a drag race, while the Rm will be more nimble and out accelerate you in the tight stuff.
