Why is my goldfish lying at the bottom of the tub ?

i bought it and let the bag water equalize with the tank water and let it in and it has oxygen and plants and guppies , but it just seems to stay at the bottom of the tank and swim abit from time to time , and does rain water effect the goldfish ?

sometimes rain water affects the quality of the water causes redening of their fins which could lead to your goldfish staying at the bottom

CC is incorrect. Goldfish actually prefer colder waters as to warmer waters.

Despite the equalization, it will take your fish a while to adjust. It needs to allow it's system to now re-adjust to the type of water. Not the temperature. Give him a while and he should perk up within a day or so at max. If he doesn't, only then start fretting about your small friend. ^^

this happened to my sister. all she did to solve it and keep her fish all happy and such is TURN UP THE HEATING.

well fish need this drop of water in the water tank. you could by it at petco or something. The fish needs aquarium water. That could be the problem or you aren't feeding it. but it think it might be the water. if you use regular water like faucet water your fish can die. i have gone through some fish. And I had the same question as you. To bad it was to late.. poor swimmy ....

I think the goldfish is still just adjusting to it's new surroundings, give it a few more days.

BTW- goldfish are coldwater fish and guppies are tropical fish, they should not be kept together

EDIT- do not turn up the heat, the goldfish immune system will weaken because goldfish are COLDWATER fish that prefer temperatures around 70 degrees, while your guppies prefer temperatures in the low 80's
