Why is my hair growing outwards?

My hair grows outwards at the sides. I hate it.. It wuznt like this before.. Im goin on a plain short straight hair now and I want to repair the "growing outwards hair". How can I make this happen?

I dont want to have long hair (too g*y) and yes, ive tried to use hair wax and hair gel and even blow dry my hair to see wheter it helps.. But no :(

Any other remedy??

sounds like you have a cowlick and the only way to get rid of it is to short your hair short on the sides and trim it every 2-3 weeks.
